In no particular order, here is my current list of recommended daily drams
Nikka Whisky From The Barrel 51.4%: There can be some batch variation but I’ve never had a bad one. Punchy yet balanced and full of flavour.
Yamazaki Distillers Reserve 43%: Can be the equal of a good batch of the 12 but at less cost. A NAS not to be sneezed at.
Nikka Pure Malt Black 43%: This is classic fruity, nutty, smokey Nikka. Again some batch variation but never had a bad one.
Hakushu 12 43%: Shows off the distillery style with clarity. Clean and fresh, foresty, peppery and mild peat.
Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky: An interesting and tasty grain whisky.
Suntory Hibiki Harmony Masters Select: This is the airport exclusive of the No Age Statement Hibiki and quite superior to the standard version.
Discontinued but can still be found readily in Japan.
Suntory Special Reserve 10YO 43% A lovely creamy blend. 750ml bottle and the last one I purchased(2013) cost me $8.
Suntory Royal Aged 15 Years 43% Same as the Special Reserve 10 but costs a little more. These are going for about $20-25. Superior blending.
Nikka The Blend 45% Malt biased blend that is just oh so tasty with lovely wisps of smoke. This one gets better the longer the bottle is open. $20-30.
Miyagikyo NAS 43% A feisty young Miyagikyo and the one in the standard range I recommend over its Yoichi counterpart.
